Solace
This case study introduces Solace, a conceptual in-car infotainment system and companion app designed to enhance road safety by supporting driver well-being through real-time biometric monitoring and adaptive interface design. Grounded in the principles of chromotherapy and informed by physiological data such as heart rate variability (HRV) and respiratory patterns, Solace identifies early signs of stress, fatigue, aggression, and cardiac irregularities. The system responds with personalized sensory interventions by adjusting lighting, audio, and interface elements to proactively address impaired driver states. The experience extends beyond the vehicle through Apple Watch integration and a mobile app that provides continuous health tracking, post-drive analysis, and stress-aware trip planning. Unlike current systems that react after issues arise, Solace shifts the focus toward prevention and personalization. While still conceptual, this case study outlines a new model for in-car technology that treats driver well-being as a measurable and improvable aspect of the driving experience.
